As they were going along the road, someone said to him, "I will follow you wherever you go." And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head." To another he said, "Follow me." But he said, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father." And Jesus said to him, "Leave the dead to bury their own dead. But as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God." Yet another said, "I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home." Jesus said to him, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God."
Luke 9:57-62 ESV
Good Morning Men of God,
Following Christ is the most difficult and rewarding job out there. Jesus doesn't care about your credentials, your degrees, or your previous experience. None of that matters to him. He does not care about your sinful past, he died to redeem that. He only cares about one thing. Do you really want to Follow Him? Being a follower of Christ dictates you being willing to walk the road he walked, even if it means experiencing some of the hardship he experienced. In our text today we see individuals pledging their allegiance to the cause, before they knew what it would take. I am sure they saw the miracles and the growing crowds, and wanted to be apart of the Jesus celebrity movement. Many are like that today. They want to see the spectacle of God moving, but won't endure the sacrifice to be a part of the movement. We have to decide if we are going to be a spectator, observing his mighty work around us, or a vessel used by HIM to perform these mighty works. I believe as Men of God we find our true creation purpose in a position of submission as a willing vessel of God. Willing to go and do the will of our Father wherever it takes us. Are you willing and ready to be used by Him today. I pray this week you will surrender further to His will and ask him to use you. Your are not a spectator! Get in the game and let God use you.
Love you guys,
Patrick
