Prayer as the first Defense

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 5:8‭-‬11 ESV

Good Morning Men of God,

Keisha and I found ourselves in a heated discussion over an important marriage matter. We were both passionately presenting our separate point of views. You could feel the tension in the room as tempers began to rise. We had been trying to complete this conversation for several days. Then all of the sudden I realized that we were saying the same thing. We had been arguing for multiple days over an issue that we actually agreed on. There just had not been enough communication about it to see the similarities in both of our view points. In the end it made me laugh. Satan is so clever. Our text today shows us that satan(the adversary ) is searching for ways to tear us and our Godly relationships down. As fathers and husbands, we must be vigilant in seeking God faithfully for guidance , especially in tense spouse or children situations. We are all fighting the same battle. Take heart in knowing that every man on this thread is fighting to maintain a happy marriage and relationships with our kids. Satan is attacking us all. He will not be victorious with any of us! God will restore, strengthen, and establish us if we keep seeking Him. I challenge you today to lead your wife or kids in prayer the next time a heated discussion arises. Glorify God as sovereign right in the midst of the situation. Watch how it puts satan at bay and restores balance in your relationships.

Love you Guys,

Patrick
