Hole in the Wall(literally)

October 26, 2018

The waters closed in over me to take my life; the deep surrounded me; weeds were wrapped about my head at the roots of the mountains. I went down to the land whose bars closed upon me forever; yet you brought up my life from the pit, O Lord my God. When my life was fainting away, I remembered the Lord , and my prayer came to you, into your holy temple.

Jonah 2:5‭-‬7 ESV

Good Morning Men of God,

Keisha would tell me every day,  " you need to take some time to chill your head out". This was her way of telling me that I seemed a little more stressed or anxious than usual.  Like clockwork  I would respond, " nah,  I am good" . This went on for weeks until something happened.  I punched a hole  in a wall in our bedroom (pause for reaction ). Mounting circumstances made me feel like I was drowning and I could not see my way out.  I kept how I felt bottled up inside because that is what "men do".so,  in the heat of the moment,  during a simple "conversation " with my wife,  I put my fist through the wall. I think as men,  we feel like this sometimes.  Like situations are drowning us and we can't catch our breathe.  Our text today shows us that like Jonah,  when we feel like that our prayers are our way out. Our prayers reconnect us and submit our circumstances to God.  Our payers help us to receive his provision in our worst moments. Don't be like me and wait until the mounting frustration can seemingly only be expresed by punching a wall.  When you feel it mounting,  remember that our God is there to restore,  refresh,  and redeem you.

Love you Guys,
