Hello everyone,
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”
Isaiah 43:2 NIV
When I think about the depth and meaning of this scripture I can’t help but get excited. God has been more than a friend, he has been my savior, my refuge, my strength. The goal of the believer is not just to study and learn, it is also to act out what we believe, to love as Christ loves.
D.L. Moody once said: “A holy life will produce the deepest impression. Lighthouses blow no horns; they only shine.” The simplicity of this thought shook me, after it’s all said and done God isn’t asking us to reinvent the wheel, God wants consistency! As a Pastor it is tough sometimes to come up with a “word”, but loving people and showing them what a devoted relationship with God looks like can make more of an impact than anything we could ever say. A lighthouse is special NOT because of cutting edge technology, NOT the latest updates, but because of its consistency in helping those that need help in the darkness. No matter the situation, through storms, through darkness, through whatever that can be thrown it’s way, the lighthouse will keep shining through it.
Let us strive to be consistent in our actions and daily walk, like the lighthouse. The world doesn’t need more noise, the world needs a light in the darkness! Through the pain, through the storms, through the losses, we need to be a light to those around us. I pray you never look at a lighthouse the same way again, let it be a beacon that represents hope, life, love.
Thank you for letting me share my heart with you today, it is truly an honor.
